Have you ever wondered why you live your life the way you do? Do you ever ask yourself if more is possible than what you're doing now? If you don't know the answer to that question, or you're not satisfied with the answer, you're not alone. Most people start making important choices early in life, only to find out later on that it's not what they wanted or how they thought it would be. Their environment or social pressure may have caused them to choose a path not intended for them. They fall into the trap of other people's expectations and don't know how to escape the pitfall that caught them.

We all want our lives to have meaning. But life can feel empty and unsatisfying when we struggle to find that value. Do you feel like you're just following the ripples of your survival instinct and not fulfilling your actual needs? Or DO you know what you want but have no idea how to achieve that goal or dream? Life-transition coaching helps you find meaning in your life and enables you to make the changes you want to see.

Not all the significant changes happening in your life are planned or welcome. We all encounter unwanted and disturbing surprises at some point. Life transitions are the changes we undergo when we trade the old and familiar for something new and uncertain. These new phases in our lives often come with challenges, disruption, fear, and vulnerability.

In addition, transition to a new phase of life always involves a loss – loss of a role, a person, an identity, a place, or your old self or life. Loss can bring a mix of emotions; it is normal to feel a sense of grief, stress, or anxiety. Even planned or positive transitions, such as getting married, can be challenging in their own ways.

what is transition coaching?

Life-Transition Coaching is a constructive, equal way of conducting conversations in which the coachee is responsible for developing potentially present competencies. This process occurs by detecting and removing resistance and becoming aware of existing knowledge, skills, and talents.

Life-Transition Coaching is a structured, goal-oriented, and future-oriented process in which the coach, in an interactive way (including by observing, questioning, confronting, and mirroring), encourages increasing the effectiveness of the other by:

• Awareness and personal growth

• Increasing self-confidence

• Exploring, developing, and applying one's possibilities

Central to every coaching process is the coachee's conviction that he has qualities, competencies, and possibilities that can improve a situation or the person of the coachee. There is already something present in the coachee (or client) that only needs a chance to come to fruition. This belief in human quality is at the heart of all forms of coaching.

do I need a transition coach?

Perhaps you are already content with the life you live, but you want a bit of extra guidance to help you achieve even more desires and dreams.

You may know precisely what you want to do but don't know how to achieve it, or you get lost along the way and don't know how to get back on track.

Or maybe, you want to change your life because your current situation is no longer satisfying, and you want help redefining your goals and priorities.

Consider working with a transition coach if:

  • You don't have a sense of satisfaction or purpose in your life

  • You wake up every morning dreading another day at work

  • Lack direction in your life and don't know which way to go

  • You're dissatisfied at work or home

  • You feel undervalued or suppressed by your environment

  • You know that there is more to life than what you currently make of it, and you're ready to make a change

What are the signs that I would benefit from Life-transition coaching?

Life transitions are often stressful. However, we all have to go through them at some point to grow and develop ourselves. Whether you want to change your life or are already in the midst of a life transition, the cause of the change most likely involves some crisis. A crisis can be personal or inner, like a burn-out, depression, or identity issue. But also a challenge from the outside world, like losing your job or a loved one. These moments in your life – which we all encounter at some point – always come with various psychological and physical symptoms. It is up to you to recognize and acknowledge them as problematic and work towards a better understanding of how these symptoms influence you negatively or hopefully positively. I invite you to look at the following questions to determine if life-transition coaching can benefit your situation.

  • Do you feel lost or not like yourself?

  • Do you feel like you're just existing or living to your full potential?

  • Are you feeling burned out?

  • Are you currently unsatisfied with your life?

  • Do you feel a loss of confidence?

  • Are you afraid to move forward?

  • Do you feel unprepared to handle the future?

  • Are you regularly experiencing negative emotions (anger, anxiety, doubt, grief, confusion, numbness)?

  • Are you regularly experiencing physical symptoms, such as fatigue, headaches, upset stomach, or muscle tension?

A life-transition coach can provide a supportive environment to help you create the kind of life you want and move through a life transition.

How can a transition coach help you?

If you're wondering what a life-transition coach can do for you, here are some benefits of working with a transition coach:

Grow your self-belief and confidence

From an early age, we are often conditioned according to societal expectations and told how we should live. Expectations are created about our place on the social ladder, what we should 'achieve' in our lives and how we should behave.

Parents, teachers, partners, and employers influence who you should be and how you are ultimately shaped into who you are today. Advice and guidance from those around you can destroy your confidence, and, before you know it, 20 years have passed, and you're living a life you don't love, lacking clarity and direction.

Transition coaching will help you regain the self-belief and confidence you once had in yourself before those around you, often innocently, molded you into whom you've ultimately become.

Transformation

I always say that change doesn't happen in a day.

Transformation is a process that can sometimes take years. We are never done learning and growing. So, it makes sense that your transformation process never comes to an end. Of course, this does not mean you will live forever with your current problems or wishes. The opposite is true. Transformation means that through recognizing and acknowledging, you learn to choose your happiness over external expectations. You know to set boundaries and meet your own needs, which leads to growing your ability to decide for yourself and your happiness.

Get clarity on your life's direction.

It's easy to get lost on the exhausting treadmill of everyday life. Often unaware, you keep doing your job because it pays good money and provides financial safety. The social pattern and societal expectations determine your life because it is all you have ever known, or you don't know how to change them. Your life lives you without actually living your life.

But what if there is more than that?

What comes to mind when you ask yourself if this is the life you want to live? Transition coaching helps you identify your nodes and guides you in searching for a role that suits you better. Change doesn't happen overnight; only you are responsible for real change in your life. A transition coach guides you in searching for your True Self and – together with you – draws up a plan to take the first steps in your journey to satisfaction and happiness.

Creating balance and harmony

We all know the feeling of trying to survive the week. How many people struggle for a boss from Monday to Friday – looking forward to the weekend – only to need Saturday and Sunday to recover their bodies and minds? On Sunday evening, the uneasy feelings creep up on you because you realize that the circus will start the next day again.

Maintaining a balance between work, children, partners, and social contacts is extremely important. But unfortunately, many people do not manage to maintain this balance without suffering the consequences of the will to keep everybody happy except themselves.

By finding the right balance in life, you will have a better life, and your weekly "obligations" are not seen as duties but as part of the harmony you have created.

Discover your unique strengths

Every person has unique strengths and qualities. While it is apparent to those around you and perhaps also to yourself which individual qualities and strengths you have, it doesn't remain easy to use them correctly and take maximum advantage of them.

A transition coach can work with you to discover how your qualities and strengths mutually reinforce each other, thus finding new opportunities and possibilities. A transition coach can also help you develop techniques and take the first steps to use your strength for your well-being.

Why choose Dennis Kirchner's transition coaching?

I believe personal experience plays a significant role in helping others on their journey into the unknown. As a coach, I don't have to experience everything you go through; I can never share a moment like you. However, I believe that my experience going through multiple significant life changes is a massive advantage in guiding your dreams and wishes.

I have been going through one transition after another for several years now. Fortunately, I do this not because external factors force me but because I choose to change my life when I feel that my current situation no longer meets my needs. A life transition doesn't have to be painful or scary. When you learn to embrace the change, life becomes much more accessible.

By choosing happiness and the associated changes coming with a transition, I learned – through trial and error – what it is like to live according to my terms. These lessons and experiences can now serve you in making choices for happiness. My training in various coaching directions, my never-ending hunger for personal growth and information, and the experience in my transition from a work-enslaved person in the Netherlands to an independent entrepreneur in the beautiful nature of Tenerife offer, in my opinion, the ideal combination to help you towards a life that makes you happy.
